VAIN; To put it lightly, Christian is vain. He is completely obsessed with his looks, and most of the time it’s all he cares about. He spends a lot of time making himself look good, because due to his cocky, it’s all he has. He’s superficial and often believes that this is all girls care about, and the majority of the time he’s right as a lot of girls are just as superficial as he is. Along with this he is hugely big headed as he believes that he can get any girl that he wants, which is true most of the time.
CRUEL; As someone obsessed with purity of blood, Christian is very cruel to those who lack it, often picking fights purely for this reason. In the past if he had been alive he would have been a death eater himself purely because it’s completely what he believes in. He is also mean to those who have less money than him; he is definitely an elitist.
INTELLIGENT; The seventeen year old is also very intelligent and to some degree this is a good thing, as obviously he has no difficulty with any challenge set him, but his intellect has given him a sharp tongue which often makes him come off as rude, which no doubt was what he was aiming for most of the time. With his intelligence, his ego grew because he knew that he wasn’t one of those nerdy types (the ones who have to study all of the time to keep clever) but he was someone who could be lazy and get away with it.
INSECURE; Christian is deeply insecure. His tough outer shell is merely a façade for the weak, pathetic creature that he is inside. Constantly concerned with how he appears to others, Christian has many worries about whether he’s upholding the Evans family lineage, and whether he’s doing his father proud. He shies away from all of these worries most of the time, definitely not wanting to reveal how pathetic he is to others.
DEFENSIVE; Christian’s a very difficult person to get on with. He lets very few into his life; he’s an extremely defensive person as he knows the dangers of making himself vulnerable to others. He doesn’t like to trust people with his past, as if he was vulnerable he feels that his whole facade could be ripped down which would completely undermine the person that he’s built himself up to be. Well the Evans family is a fairly rich family. This is due to Christian’s grandfather being a minor noble in France and being given a ton of money. He died at the ripe old age of 83 (Christian was 10) and his father instead of inheriting the title decided to move over to the USA, though he did manage to inherit a large sum of money. Therefore they are rich, and always promote their wealth. Christian’s father met his mother at a function for nobles, and she was the great granddaughter of an earl of some sort. Instantly falling in love, Christian’s parents married, and lived happily for some time.
After having been married for two years, Elizabeth fell pregnant with Christian and Caterina, though at the time she had no idea that she would be having twins. On the 19th July, the two were born into a small country hospital in the county of Somerset. The unexpected twins were fussed and cared over, and were well spoilt as they were loved greatly by Alexander and Elizabeth. The family were extremely happy and extremely wealthy. It seemed as if nothing could go wrong.
Just two years later, Elizabeth fell pregnant for the second, and last time. This time she was pregnant with a single child, Stephan, Christian and Caterina’s younger brother. The pregnancy was complicated, and Elizabeth had to go into an emergency caesarian at just 7 months of having been pregnant. Stephan was born, very tiny and had to be put in intensive care to survive. However, Elizabeth didn’t make it through the caesarian section and died, leaving Alexander alone with two year old twins, and a newborn and sickly baby. Alexander’s hatred for Stephan was already there for the death of his beautiful wife Elizabeth.
Soon Alexander became reclusive and solitary, turning to drink to drown his sorrows and his grief. He was a complete alcoholic and was often in fits of anger and violence, most often turned to his three children, who of which at this time were ten and eight. He violently attacked Christian, often leaving him with bruises. Alexander sexually attacked Caterina, who was completely terrified of her father, and Stephan was often left with burns from his father’s cigarettes. Christian trying to protect his siblings often turned his father’s rage away from them, and bared the full force of it himself. Often he was too weak to leave the house after one of his father’s fits of violence. The children were and still are far to scared to tell anyone, for fear that they won’t believe the story. Christian believes his father does this because they are not good enough for him, and he always strives to be the best he can be for his father.
Later that year, his father in one of his rational moments, decided that he would not inherit his father’s Earldom, and moved the family across to Sunset Beach, where he assumed they could have a fresh start and perhaps he’d fall in love again. Not long after moving there this did in fact happen, (well not love, but as close as he could) Alexander met Lucinda Parkes, a single mother of one Robert, who was 9. Quickly they were married, Alexander hiding all his alcoholic tendencies until suddenly he exploded when Christian turned 12, after he had had another child with Lucinda, who was 2. Christian had came back late to the house, and while sneaking up to his room had accidently knocked off a priceless heirloom. Alexander had gone ballistic and because he had been drinking had attacked Christian. Lucinda had been shocked, but she too had submitted to Alexander, going along with his wishes. Christian’s hatred for her always shone through, as she did nothing to stop the abuse and to him it constantly felt as if she was trying to replace his mother. His father did not abuse Christian’s step siblings, and Christian hated them all the more for it.
