KEEP HOLDING ONKEEP PUSHINGAND MAKE IT TO THE TOP
As always, Skye was pushing herself further and further. She just always needed to win. With everything she does. Not only because she wants too, but because she’s good at almost everything she does. “98, 99, 100!” She said while she was doing push ups. She stood up, grabbed her bottle of water and drank till it was empty.
Maybe that was why she stood up to ‘the queen’. She rolled her eyes when she thought of it. ‘The queen’. Like there was a real queen in SP. No. Only stupid Felicity who thinks she’s queen of the whole world. She really deserved it. Skye flashbacked to when she stood up at the party and yelled at ‘the queen’. She could still see the shocked eyes of the people around her and Felicity. And then chaos broke out. So childish. Skye rolled her eyes again and sat down on a bench to rest.

Madison was never one to visit gyms because the smell of a bunch of greased up men, the testosterone in the room, and the lack of privacy just never appealed to her. But today she needed somewhere to work out, and she'd heard the gym had an old basketball court that was nearly empty so she decided to suck it up and take a visit. She was supposed to be at the batting cages with her friends, but they'd either bailed out or simply couldn't make it, so she found herself alone looking for a way to stay active. She had her hair pulled back, her gym clothes on and her shoes all laced up. Now, all she had to do was convince herself to get past the door. She took one last breath of fresh air before walking in.
It didn't take long for Madison to find the workout area with all the grunting coming from it, but she paced herself before going in anyway. She wasn't even near the room but she already had a slight smell of musty arm pit, sweaty hair, and cologne. She held her nose as she walked in, hurrying past all the over-excited men on the various machines. She did see a few women, but none looked close to her age. She was almost at the gym when she saw another younger person. She looked about Madison's age, but Madison didn't remember her face from school Maybe she was one of the many students that Madison had yet to see. She raised her hand in a friendly manner before continuing on to the gym.
The gym didn't smell too much better than the other room, but at least it was fairly empty. Madison got out her softball and glove then walked to the center of the floor. She threw it at the wall then ran back to try and center herself below it as the wall returned it. She smiled when she heard it hit her glove, then threw it again this time slightly harder than last. She missed the ball this time, so instead of changing the force behind the ball she threw it the same way until she could catch it. It wasn't the same a practicing with an actual person, but it was all Madison could really do.

KEEP HOLDING ONKEEP PUSHINGAND MAKE IT TO THE TOP
Skye filled her bottle and nipped it. She just getted started, she wasn’t eve here for half an hour, but still she got bored. There were no hot guys her age and she could forget about her friends too after the chaos with Felicity. She walked back to the bench with her stuff on it, set down again and looked around her. The only thing she saw was old people trying to lose weight. Skye knew they would never lose weight, because in their bags you could see all kinds of food which they ate in the dressingroom after training. Skye laughed in herself at them, why would they spend their time here if they knew it wasn’t working?
Skye nipped her bottle of water again, allthough she wasn’t thirsty at all. Some girl her age walked in the hall. She looked disgusted by all the people and Skye could tell that she held her breath. Skye sniffed. She totally agreed with the girl, it smells pretty bad in here. But hey, what where you expecting in a Gym? The girl looked at her while she was walking and raised her hand. Skye nodded friendly towards her. She didn’t knew the girl, never saw her before either. She seemed nice though. Felicity would never wave to Skye, before she stood up to her she wouldn’t either.
The girl left to the smal and probably empty basketball court. Skye didn’t knew why, but she took her bag and walked over to the old gym. The girl could be worse then anyone she did knew right? Silently Skye walked in to see the girl throwing a soft ball against the wall. Skye felt a little jealousy coming up, she remembered who the girl was. The girl from the softball team. Skye was always running around doing silly dances in a cheerleading outfit because her mom wanted her too, not realizing that Skye’d rather be in a thougher sport like soft ball. The girl was from Sunset Beach, but what did it matter anyway? All the Sunset Pier people allready hated her. She walked up to the bal the girl missed and caught it. “Need a partner?” Skye asked with a friendly smile when she threw it back to the girl.

Although practicing alone wasn't exactly Madison's cup of tea, she eventually fell into a rhythm and began to follow a pattern, similar to a dance beat. One, two three, prep, wind, throw, five, six, seven, line up under, and on eight the catch was made. Madison smiled to herself, proud of finding a way to keep herself entertained. She was trying to figure out who the girl she'd seen outside was. She looked vaguely familiar, maybe because she and Madison had a class together. Madison knew the face, but recalling the name was the hard part. She kept the ball going to its steady beat, trying not to miss a step. She was so caught up in trying to remember the girl she didn't notice the ball flying away from her. Madison was on her way to get the ball when she noticed a set of legs appear. She looked up to see who they belonged to and noticed the girl. She had her bag with her like she'd planned to re-locate to gym. Madison smiled when she offered to be her partner and nodded.
Now that Madison had a better look at the girl's face, she could remember where she was from. She was also on the cheerleading squad. Madison had seen her at a parent meeting or something like that. She was one of the Sunset Pier students, but it didn't stop her from offering Madison her help and Madison wasn't going to let a dumb thing like residence keep her from being nice. "You're on the cheerleading squad, right?" Madison asked, wanting to verify that was indeed where the girl was familiar from. She was still trying to get to know all her classmates, and the last thing she wanted to do was confuse one person with another. Organization was key to Madison and she always had to keep everythiing straight, from her locker and room to something simple like knowing people's names. Besides, she had yet to practice with any of the cheerleading girls and figured if she could go into her first practice with at least one familiar face, it would go a lot better.

Skye was glad the girl nodded yes even though they didn’t know eachother. She really needed to meet some new nice people to hang out with. Her friends let her down, so they weren’t really friends, but still. Some nice people to hang out with is not too much to ask for isn’t it? Skye thought. Skye could see she was right about the softball team, it was the girl she meant. No idea what her name was though.
“You’re on the cheerleading squad, right?” The girl suddenly asked. So she regonized Skye too. She also must knew then that Skye was from Sunset Pier. Hopefully she didn’t care about that either. Skye smiled and nodded. “Yes, I’m Skye Middleton.” She said friendly and suddenly she realized that this girl was on the squad too, she was one of the flyers. How stupid can you be? “Wait, you’re one of the flyers, aren’t you? Skye said smiling. “So stupid that I didn’t regonize you immediatly.”

Skye seemed friendly enough, and gave Madison hope about the students at her new school. If Skye was capable of being nice to a complete stranger, well maybe all the other students at Sunset High wouldn't be so bad. Sure, Madison knew about the rivalry between the beach and pier, but maybe everyone didn't by into the desperate cry for drama. Rejecting friendships based on residence seemed a little childish and was what gave Madison her biggest fear about Sunset High. With the rivals under the same roof for so many hours, it was only so long before bad things happened.
It was a relief that Skye hadn't assumed Madison knew her name and introduced herself, though the girls knew each other from cheerleading. Madison let out a small laugh when Skye mentioned she hadn't known her name. "Yep, top of the stunts," Madison said with fake enthusiasm. "Yea, to be honest, I didn't really know your name off the bat either. So, what grade are you?" Madison asked, trying to keep friendly conversation going. Madison cupped her hands into a small sphere to give Skye a target to throw the ball.

Madison gave Skye a target to throw the ball and so she did. Yep, top of the stunts. Yea, to be honest, I didn't really know your name off the bat either. So, what grade are you?" Skye smiled immediatly when she asked in what grade she was. Maybe the people in Sunset Beach weren’t as childish as the people in Sunset Pier. “I’m a sophomore, you?” Skye said while she cupped her hands just like Madison did to give her a target.
Skye wondered if Madison was new in Sunset. She had seen her this year, but never saw her before that. Maybe that was why she didn’t care much about the fact that Skye lived in Sunset Pier. “So are you new here, cuz.. I didn’t saw you last year?” Skye said, thinking her question must be true. If it was, she just hoped that Madison wouldn’t get into the fight between Sunet Beach and Pier at all. Skye could use a friendship with someone who didn’t care about it either. Maybe Madison could even help straight things things up between Beach and Pier.

Madison got ready to pitch the ball back to Skye, continuing the conversation while she pitched. Skye was a sophomore, which meant the girls were very close in age. Madison had just only turned sixteen, but she too was a sophomore because all the moving around caused her to repeat a grade. "Same," she said when she finally released the ball and sent it flying toward Skye's hands. Madison shook her pitching hand a little, a force of habit that she'd had since she started practicing. It was originally something she did before tumbling, like a good luck sign, and it was something she carried over into softball. She ran her hand over her ponytail, letting her soft brown hair hit her shoulders.
When she was finished messing with her hair, Madison tuned back into the real world in time to hear Skye ask if she was new. She nodded and prepared her hands for a catch, before responding verbally. "Yep, and scared as I don't know what?" Madison said adding a small laugh. "But, already a few people claim they don't like me because of some Beach/Pier stuff that I have yet to understand," Madison added, shrugging her shoulders and clapping her hands for the ball. Really, these days people found all kind of dumb reasons to hate on others.

Skye smiled when Madison said she was a sophomore too. Maybe they were even in some classes together, but Skye never really paid attention to anything in class so she wouldn’t know. Madison caught the ball and threw it back at Skye who catched it again. Skye was sure that Madison was older then her, but maybe she had to repeat a grade. Doesn’t really matter, except for the fact that they were in the same grade.
"Yep, and scared as I don't know what? But, already a few people claim they don't like me because of some Beach/Pier stuff that I have yet to understand," Skye laughed with Madison at the first thing she said and then rolled her eyes before she threw the ball back to Madison. It was kind of embaressing that when there were new people in Sunset, they immediatly knew about the fight between Sunset Pier and Beach. Good first impression. “I’m sorry about that. I honestly seem to be the only one who think it’s stupid.” Skye said and thought for a moment of all her friends who let her down. “I actually have a little problem with the people in SP.” She said sarcastic and rolled her eyes again, to show that she didn’t like it. “And yes, it’s weird because I live there” Skye added with a small laugh.

Madison caught the ball but didn't throw it back. She was too interested in the feud between the two Sunset territories. Really, she'd heard of interesting conflicts, but this was like a modern version of West Side Story only with better-looking people. Madison let the ball fall from her hand as she listened to Skye tell about her problem with SP. Wow, exiled because she was willing to go against everyone else? Madison wasn't even sure what really went down, but the few sentences she heard were enough to let her know her time at Sunset probably wouldn't be as easy as she'd hoped. Still, at least not everyone couldn't been crazy because Skye seemed to have good sense. "Well, you're not the only one because I think it's stupid too," Madison finally replied, letting the fact that half her school body probably wouldn't like her sink in. Great, as if she wasn't nervous already now she had to worry about what the other Sunset Pier students, those that took the feud seriously, would be like.
Madison was so deep in thought, she had completely forgotten about Skye standing just a few feet from her. She blinked a couple of times and finally snapped back into reality, hoping she didn't come off as crazy. It wouldn't be good if the first person she'd met thought she was crazy. "So, what is Sunset High like anyway? I mean, I went for a few days at the end of last year, but mostly to cheerleading, softball, and volleyball meetings." Madison asked hoping to keep the conversation flowing. She'd watched the ball roll away, and now finally thought to retrieve it. She prepped and did a quick round-off back-handspring combo to the corner of the gym where the ball had rolled, picked it up and threw it back at Skye. "Catch!" she said loudly, waiting a few seconds before throwing the ball to give Skye an opportunity to get ready. She tossed the ball back in the direction of Skye, walking back to her spot right after.
Madison reached her spot, massaging her wrist as she walked. Not warming up before tumbling was never a smart idea, but Madison was usually one to do things without thinking. Thankfully, she hadn't thrown with that arm or she probably would've really been in pain. She shook her wrist to help with the pain, finally feeling the pain start to ease.

KEEP HOLDING ONKEEP PUSHINGAND MAKE IT TO THE TOP
Right when Skye told Madison about her little problem, Madison was sort of frozen. Those weird moments when you’re thinking many things at the same time and remember a second too late that you were having a conversation with someone. At least for Skye it was always like that, of course she could know what Madison was thinking. "Well, you're not the only one because I think it's stupid too," Madison said quickly before it became awkward. Skye smiled. That was good to know, Skye didn’t even thought of that Madison would agree with her or not.“Good to know.” Skye said smiling. Madison still seemed a little in her own world for a second, but then she ‘woke up’. "So, what is Sunset High like anyway? I mean, I went for a few days at the end of last year, but mostly to cheerleading, softball, and volleyball meetings." She said and Skye was shocked that she maybe scared Madison with her stupid story. “Oh! Well, it’s really not that bad... Uhm, I don’t know actually.” Skye said quickly, she was totally confusing herself. “You see, we have this ‘elite’ thing going on. And I think every school has that problem, but... you know. We have two elites. It’s kinda annoying.” Skye went on and rolled her eyes. "I don’t know what they want actually. I only know that they hate eachother and they’re trying their best to kill eachother." Skye joked. but on the other hand it really was serious. Skye caught the ball laughing after she applaused for Madison's backspring-combo. "You're good!" Skye said and threw the ball back again.

A few moments after her mini-tumbling showcase, the pain in Madison's wrist was bearable so she continued with the game. She did smile when Skye clapped for her and curtsied when Skye verbally complimented her. "Thanks, but sadly I'm left at the top of the pyramids doing this," Madison said, then lifted her right leg to make a right angle with her left, and sticking out both her arms to her side. She then reached for her back leg with her right arm and pulling her leg back into a scorpion. After holding the stunt for a few seconds, she let her leg fall to the ground, the toe of her shoe leaving a scuff mark. It was obvious she wasn't as great at stunts as some of the other flyers, but because of her size it was what she had always done.
Skye tried to reassure Madison about Sunset High, but the whole "elite" situation wasn't sitting well in her stomach. She hadn't really gotten along with the popular kids at her other school, though she was friends with a few of them, and she hoped this wasn't another one of those situations. She simply couldn't stand people that were full of themselves and thought they held power over others that they hadn't earned. "Well, I guess I'll have to try and hold my tongue if I don't want conflicts with the "Elites"," she said the last word with a hint of sarcasm, showing she obviously didn't care if they were high on their horses or not. She may have been scared for her first day, but Madison wasn't a pushover and wasn't gonna let a bunch of stuck-up students walk all over her, not that she had any reason to believe they would.
